The Midsummer Derby: 150 Years of the Travers Stakes

This year's fine art exhibition celebrates the 150th running of the Travers Stakes: the premier event of the Saratoga racing meet and the "Midsummer Derby" for 3-year-old Thoroughbreds.

This special exhibition traces the history of the Travers Stakes, from its inaugural running won by Hall of Fame member Kentucky to the memorable moments of the 21st century, by showcasing artwork and artifacts paired with historical facts found in the official race charts and newspaper archives. Visitors can also explore an interactive race footage archive featuring the available race replays from 1930 to 2018, courtesy of the New York Racing Association.
