The Sanford Legacy
The Sanford Legacy, Contemporary Racing Gallery. On display from March 25, 2015 to February 5, 2017.
This special exhibition at the National Museum of Racing explored the legacy created by one of the early racing families, the Sanfords of Amsterdam. Featuring items from the Museum Collection and items on loan, this exhibition focused on the people, the horses and their legacy. Other subjects included the Matinee Races held at Hurricana Stock Farm, the family's successes in some of the most prestigious racing events at home and abroad, their Hall of Fame connections, the establishment of the Sanford Stakes, and the present-day efforts to preserve what remains of this historic breeding and racing operation by the Friends of Sanford Stud Farm.
