The Paintings of Richard Stone Reeves opens March 9 at the National Museum of Racing

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Nine paintings from the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s collection of artwork by Richard Stone Reeves will be on display in the Museum’s Link Gallery beginning Wednesday, March 9. The Paintings of Richard Stone Reeves will be exhibited through 2022.

National Museum of Racing announces 2022 Hall of Fame finalists

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Six racehorses, four trainers, and one jockey account for the 11 finalists that will comprise the National Museum of Racing’s 2022 Hall of Fame ballot, as chosen by the Museum’s Hall of Fame Nominating Committee. The finalists are racehorses Beholder (first year of eligibility), Blind Luck, Havre de Grace, Kona Gold, Rags to Riches, and Tepin (first year of eligibility); trainers Christophe Clement, Graham Motion, Doug O’Neill, and John Shirreffs; and jockey Corey Nakatani.

National Museum of Racing accepting applications for 2022 Rodion Cantacuzene Scholarship

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is accepting applications for the 2022 Rodion Cantacuzene Scholarship, an annual award recognizing young leaders and volunteers throughout Saratoga County. The scholarship, awarded in a one-time amount of $1,000, will be presented in June to a high school senior from Saratoga County who has demonstrated a record of academic excellence and exemplary service to the community along with a strong interest in pursuing future studies in history and/or the arts.

Maureen Mahoney named National Museum of Racing's Development Director

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Maureen Mahoney, who has worked in a variety of capacities at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame since joining the institution in 2015, has been named the Museum’s Development Director. A native of Glens Falls, N.Y., and a graduate of Skidmore College, Mahoney will lead the Museum’s development and sponsorship initiatives and assume a prominent role in special events, marketing, and outreach.

Privman, Haight, Mann selected to the Joe Hirsch Media Roll of Honor

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Daily Racing Form national correspondent Jay Privman and the late turf writers Walter Haight and Jack Mann have been selected to the National Museum of Racing’s Joe Hirsch Media Roll of Honor.

Former Museum president John von Stade passes away at age 83

John T. von Stade, whose 17-year tenure as president of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame from 1989 through 2005 is the longest in the institution’s history, died Nov. 25 at his home in Lutherville, Md., after a lengthy illness. He was 83.

American Pharoah, Todd Pletcher, and Jack Fisher elected to the National Museum of Racing's Hall of Fame

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Triple Crown winner American Pharoah (KY), seven-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer Todd Pletcher, and 13-time champion steeplechase trainer Jack Fisher comprise the National Museum of Racing’s 2021 Hall of Fame class. American Pharoah and Pletcher were elected in the contemporary category in their first year of eligibility and Fisher was chosen by the Museum’s Steeplechase Review Committee, which meets once every four years.

The class of 2021 will be enshrined along with the 2020 inductees — trainer Mark Casse, jockey Darrel McHargue, horses Tom Bowling and Wise Dan, and Pillars of the Turf Alice Headley Chandler, J. Keene Daingerfield, Jr., and George D. Widener, Jr. — on Friday, Aug. 6, at the Fasig-Tipton sales pavilion in Saratoga Springs at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Museum website at www.racingmuseum.org. An announcement regarding public attendance at the ceremony will be made at a later date.

Pierre "Peb" Bellocq and William Leggett selected to the Joe Hirsch Media Roll of Honor

New signature film "What It Takes" highlights National Museum of Racing's state-of-the-art Hall of Fame experience

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame reopened to the public on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020. The Museum had been closed since January 2020 for the installation of a new state-of-the-art Hall of Fame experience as well as multiple new and updated exhibitions. The Museum has put in place a number of enhanced safety protocols in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and is a Saratoga Cares Stay Safe Pledge institution with a commitment to the health of Saratoga County residents, workers, and visitors.
