National Museum of Racing's Hall of Fame Education Experience Campaign

In the summer of 2018, the Museum began a three-year campaign to raise funds for an amazing transformation to our Hall of Fame. To properly document the achievements of all the Hall of Fame members, we have installed nine large-scale interactive monitors that contain the statistics, achievements, and photos of all of the inductees and, for many of the horses, video clips of their races. This technology is now giving us the ability to update the information on the jockeys and trainers who continue to advance their careers after induction.

The highlight of the transformation is the amazing film that draws visitors into the incredible experience of thoroughbred racing. The film — “What it Takes: Journey to the Hall of Fame” — is a larger-than-life cinematic experience. With the audience seated around the perimeter, facing the center, the show unfolds as progressively larger screens descend into the middle of the space, building to the moment when full 360-degree projections surround the audience, literally placing the visitor in the middle of the story.

The Race Day Gallery outside the Hall of Fame gives you the entire “day at the races” experience with Paddock, Track, and Winner’s Circle exhibits. This area also includes a “Call The Race” booth where YOU get to be the announcer and call some of the most exciting moments in racing history. You can then download your version of the race onto your mobile device for a lasting memory of the experience.

This renovation is part of an ongoing capital campaign. It is so important to the Museum to reach our campaign goal so that we can continue our mission of preserving and promoting the history of thoroughbred racing in America and honor the sport’s most accomplished participants in the Official National Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame.
