Backstretch Babies Drop-In Program: Offered for young children two years old and younger, these weekly programs during the Saratoga racing season will feature a short story or activity followed by free play with our sensory-friendly toys. When: Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. from July 10 through Aug. 28. Cost: Free with a paid adult admission.

Photo Finish Tour with Dona Ann McAdams: Join the Museum on a special tour of Saratoga Race Course’s famed Oklahoma Training Track led by professional photographer Dona Ann McAdams. You will learn about lighting, composition, and developing your own photographer’s eye. Please note that reservations are required for this tour. Saturday Morning Social: Join Museum staff and special guests for a casual discussion of the day’s racing action at Saratoga and other tracks throughout the country. Featuring “Saratoga Saturdays” handicapping with Tom Amello and Trackfacts (10:40 a.m.), as well as complimentary light refreshments and Saratoga past performances for the day’s racing card. Cost: Free admission, books available for purchase. Time: 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Travers Eve Wine and Cheese Social: Celebrate the racing season at the Museum on the eve of the 150th running of the Travers Stakes. Enjoy refreshments in the Museum’s Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Courtyard with fellow Museum members and racing enthusiasts. Featuring book signings for “Sermon on the Mount: The Wisdom and Life Experiences of Hall of Fame Trainer D. Wayne Lukas” with D. Wayne Lukas and author Christina Bossinakis and “The Travers: 150 Years of Saratoga’s Greatest Race” with authors Brien Bouyea and Michael Veitch.

Children’s Program: “Build a Travers Stakes Trophy:” Prepare for Saratoga’s 150th running of the Travers Stakes race by going on a Museum scavenger hunt for trophies and related objects then decorate a small trophy of your own. Recommended for children ages 3 through 8. Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost: Free with paid adult admission.

“Born to Rein” film showing and reception: Featuring the life of Nebraska horsemen and Hall of Fame members John A. Nerud and father-and-son Marion and Jack Van Berg. Nerud, a Navy veteran and one of America’s most accomplished and revered thoroughbred trainers and breeders, co-founded the prestigious Breeders’ Cup. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1972. Marion Van Berg was the nation’s leading owner in racing victories 14 times and was the first Nebraskan inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1970.
